Description
This course “The Introduction to Mammalian Cell Culture | Biotechnology” is designed for undergraduate and graduate students who possess an inclination towards acquiring knowledge in cell culture techniques but lack a starting point. This resource will primarily assist students with a background in biology, particularly in biotechnology, molecular biology, cancer biology, cancer nanotechnology, genetics, gene editing, immunology, medical immunology, cell biology, microbiology, proteomics, and related disciplines, in initiating their research projects. This course does not have any prerequisites. You will acquire comprehensive knowledge starting from the fundamental level. This course is designed for individuals who are new to the subject and have little prior knowledge or experience. The purpose of this course is to provide an overview of the fundamentals of mammalian cell culture. The initial lesson of the program provides a fundamental introduction to cell culture, including definitions, varieties of cultures, distinctions between primary and secondary cultures, and the significance and applications of cell culture. The second lesson introduces the different types of cell lines, along with their examples. The third lecture covers the prerequisites and essential supplies for a laboratory devoted to cell culture experiments. The fourth lecture covers challenges in laboratory safety, aseptic technique, and various cell culture contaminations, while the final lecture covers fundamental cell thawing, cryopreservation, and subculturing procedures. Although there are certain similarities in the fundamentals of cell culture experiments, the conditions under which cells are cultured differ significantly between labs and cell types. Altering the culture conditions specified for a given cell line may lead to the expression of distinct phenotypes. Consequently, it is advisable that researchers acquaint themselves with the cell line of interest and diligently adhere to the instructions included with every product utilized in their experiments.
