How to get started with commissions as an illustrator Here is everything you need to start with small private art commissions (portraits, OC drawings, .), and grow to medium-sized commercial contracts (illustrating books, creating advertising artwork, .). Divided into several modules, we’ll cover the following topics.
M1 – FIRST STEPS – PRIVATE COMMISSIONS: Many artists start with small commissions for individuals, or with luck, for small start-ups and companies. Here we lay down a solid foundation to help you get started in the easiest possible way.
M2 – BIGGER COMMERCIAL ORDERS: Larger, commercial orders, with clients who will present your art to their audience (eg. advertising posters, illustrating children’s books, etc.) In this section, we’ll see how you can look more professional.
M3 – OTHER USEFUL INFO: Other information that might come in handy, depending on your goals & the commissions types you choose.

Hello! I’m Sabrina Kaufmann, currently freelance artist, and started commission work quite young when I was 16. This course is aimed to help you get started no matter your level and age (module 1), and then dive deeper once you decide to get serious about freelancing and monetizing your art (module 2).
